Good Vs. Bad Composition

Good Composition

Both pictures are examples of a picture with good composition. The hose is clearly the focal point of the picture and the asymmetrical picture is visually appealing. The photograph of the hose has an interesting composition because it is not dead center. In the second photograph, the bricks are lined up to separate the grass and dirt, but is visually appealing because it is zoomed in. You are also able to see different textures.

Bad Composition

These pictures are examples of photographs with bad composition. In the first picture of the tree there are a lot of other things going on in the background. Even though the tree is the focal point, the person looking at the picture is distracted by the stairs on the right. The second picture is another example of bad composition. The house is placed directly in the center and because the photo was taken far away you cannot really see much detail. The picture is very bland.
